Google Express is a delivery service powered by Google where you can shop from stores like Walmart, Target, Costco, Walgreens, PetSmart, and more — all from the Google Express app. Select what you want in the app and where you want to buy it from, pay for the items, then wait for your purchases to show up on your doorstep within one to three days.

It takes the hassle, line-waiting, and driving out of your weekly grocery store runs. This service lets you shop while you’re waiting your turn at the DMV, while you’re taking a break at the office cooler, or while you’re on hold with customer service.

 

 

What stores can I shop from?
There’s a long list of national, local, and online companies from which you can make purchases on Google Express. The list includes drugstores like Walgreens, beauty stores like Ulta Beauty, electronics stores like Fry’s Electronics, and even online discount websites like Overstock.com. Link your Costco ID with your Google Express account and you can order Costco goods via the Google Express app. Spend some time browsing to learn more about which stores are at your disposal.

Google Express works directly with local stores, such as Target, Walgreens, Costco, Staples, Kohl’s, Whole Foods, Ulta, and L’Occitane, so you have a wide range to choose from.

 

These stores sell their products directly on the Google Express platform, with products divided into different categories like electronics, home & garden, household supplies, health & beauty, baby & kids, home improvement & tools, sports & outdoors, travel, arts, crafts & party supplies, office & school supplies, and pet supplies. There's an incredibly extensive range of options available. A point to note is that Google Express has discontinued its delivery service for fresh grocery items such as meat, fruit, and vegetables,so those of you looking for produce need to use Amazon Prime Now or AmazonFresh instead.

 

What you should know is that Amazon is not actually very user friendly when it comes to everyday low-cost items.For example, if I want to buy a bottled beverage, a single bag of potato chips, or a small bottle of laundry detergent, there isn’t much choice on Amazon, and an additional Prime Pantry fee may apply. Costco members can link their member card when purchasing Costco items, and can still enjoy the same product prices and cashback points.You can now place an order directly through Google Express for all those wonton noodles, party-size snacks, or supplements like Move Free that you want delivered to your place.

 

The stores available to you are determined by your ZIP code (shipping address). Confirming your ZIP code before making any purchases allows you to filter more accurately on deals available near you.The express delivery service offered by stores often covers a large area, so in many cases it requires a lot less time and effort than driving to the store yourself.This reflects the Google Express mission to save people the trouble of making multiple shopping trips and help people make better use of their valuable time.

 

• #2 Price Comparing

What’s interesting is that since there are numerous stores on Google Express to choose from, you can compare a large number of products before making a purchase. The same products are sold in Walmart, Costco, and Target, so with a little patience and by comparing like with like, you’re sure to find the lowest price. More information>>

 

For example, say a particular item retails in Walmart at $1.48.

 

 

However, we can search for similar items on the platform to find the store that sells it for the lowest price. Here we see that the same item retails at only $0.79 in Target.

 

 

It’s not a bad idea to use Google Express to compare prices.

How do I place an order?

Unlike grocery delivery services such as Amazon, no membership fee or long-term commitment is required from you. All you have to do is visit the Google Express website or the Google Express app to start browsing products and make your first purchase. Got a mobile phone or a Google Home, Mini, or Max device? Install Google Assistant and you can order via voice command with the help of Google Assistant, Google’s virtual assistant that is awakened with “Hey Google” or “Ok, Google.” Shopping is really as straightforward as the tap of a button or the saying of a word. Forgot to get dish detergent or green onions at the grocery store this weekend? Hop onto the Google Express app or tell your Google Assistant to buy it, and it’s like you didn’t forget at all.

 

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free if you order above the store minimum. Different stores have different minimum purchase requirements to be eligible for free shipping, but they tend to be between $25 and $35. Depending on which city you live in, you can expect most of your purchases to arrive to your home within one to three days.
If you don’t have enough items to meet the minimum amount that qualifies for free shipping, you’ll have to pay a small-order service fee of $4.99. 

 

• Next, I'll briefly describe the process of ordering from Google Express, using Costco as an example.

  

First, I chose two items: 30 rolls of Kirkland Signature bath tissue, and a nine-pack of Zico coconut water in one-liter cartons.

I have to mention here that since items are shipped directly from the partner store, Google Express does not deliver as quickly as Amazon, which has its own extensive logistics and warehouse system in place. Generally, an order placed on Google Express is delivered the next day at the earliest.

I placed my order in the afternoon and received my package the next morning. I was very happy both with how the products were packed and the quality of the products. Google Express doesn't have compulsory tips option. You can tip the courier when they bring the package to your door if you really feel satisfied with his/her service.

 

 

Overall review:

Generally speaking, Google Express is a great shopping platform and has the edge when it comes to price comparison, store variety, offers and discounts, and coverage.In much of its business, Google Express doesn't compete directly with Amazon, which is primarily focused on online retail.However, it's limited by the number of stores available in your area, and the products offered also vary from one area to the next (although if there's a Walmart in your area, you can generally find most of the products you want). Additionally, the turnaround time can be longer due to secondary transportation.

 

From a consumer's perspective, I use both Google Express and Amazon depending on the discounts and coupons available at the time. After all, saving money is the top priority here! More information>>
