Excellent all around gas grill for smaller spaces
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This compact gas grill (two fold down shelves are great) is perfect for a small outdoor space. Easy to assemble, and grills really nicely with even heat. Aesthetically pleasing, with nice finishes and a quality thermometer on the lid. After using for about a month - great purchase especially considering the price.

Cooks great, but poor design and quality
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for $229 on Deal of the Day. This is a great compact grill with collapsing prep tables and 4 wheels for easy movement. Assembly was pretty straight-forward, took approximately 1 hour, and only required a screwdriver (a socket wrench was helpful, but not necessary). The grill reaches searing temperature very quickly (5-10 minutes). After the initial sear, it is a little difficult to get the temperature reduced to a lower temperature, even when turning to low heat setting. I've managed this by reducing my cook times and am able to get juicy medium/medium-rare meats. This might make it difficult to cook a well-done steak that isn't charred on the outside. The grilltop is a maintenance disaster. Prepare to spend as much time cleaning the cooktop as you do grilling. The cooktop has very small holes, so grease and drippings do not drip into the base. This results in a LOT of smoke throughout cooking. The manufacturer suggests seasoning the cooktop with canola oil. This helps with sticking, but ultimately, you will have to remove the cooktop after each use and clean with soap, water, and a nylon brush to clear grease from the small holes. The porcelain cooktop is also of very poor quality. After using the grill 3 times, the paint has started chipping and flaking off the cooktop and onto grilled items. After researching this grill on amazon.com, this is a commonly reported defect, but oddly isn't in reviews on bestbuy.com. I have contacted Char-Broil support and they will be sending me new cooktops free to charge, however, they are on a 4-6 week back-order. Ultimately, the grill is capable of cooking juicy meats very quickly. But disappointed in the amount of cleaning that this grill will need if I ever receive a replacement cooktop that is safe to use. It is highly likely that I will return this grill and buy something more expensive and of higher quality.

Is it ‘Grate’?
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in a love/hate relationship with this barbecue.. Seriously, I’m torn between some great features ..and the way it cooks. What I mean is, I bought this barbecue because it is the perfect size and shape for my patio. The fold down side shelves make it ideally compact (while still usable!), and with four wheels instead of two ..it’s easy to roll in any direction. Throw in a temp gage and electronic starter, and a hideaway cabinet for the propane tank ..and you have the perfect barbecue!!! BUT ..there is a major flaw that almost cancels all of that out. Instead of the typical bar type grate to cook food on, this barbecue uses a solid plate with holes in it. The idea is that this helps distribute flame and heat evenly ..and it theoretically works. The shape of the plate even creates grill marks on your food! However, the increased surface area causes the food to stick and ends up making it hard to flip meat without ripping it to shreds. We even tried spraying it with oil first, but it really didn’t help. The other problem is that the holes in the plate don’t allow very good airflow, so when greas starts to drip into the flame below it, smoke builds and begins coming out of every possible place which creates a cloud around the cooking station. The plate just seems to negate the idea of open flame barbecuing, and it almost makes me feel like I’m not REALLY barbecuing at all. I’ve actually considered returning it, but my son keeps pointing out the benefits. So I’m torn. Do I love it? ..yes. Do I hate it? ...yes!

Love the grill, but not the grill plates
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The grill does a great job with even and consistant heat. I've had no flare ups. I really love the grill, but not the grill plates. I can't get them clean. I oiled up the plates before the first use, just like another consumer recommended. But I cannot remove all the burned on food. I have let them soak, sprayed with hot water, scrubbed and scubbed. What else can I do?

Very nice grill
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This grill rocks. It's insanely fast at heating up from cold, in just a few minutes it's right up around 400 degrees. It will stay so constant at what ever your setting may be and really does distribute heat evenly accross the whole grilling surface. No Flare ups ever is quite great too. I bought a seasoning shelf and hook mounts (both Charbroil brand) for the ends of the side shelves on Amazon for quite cheap that are a must in my opinion. I also added a rotesserie to it, which I love. Cleaning isn't the worst. People complaing about it, and it is worse than most grills, but it's fine. Just use the scrapping tool at the end and scrub it down once it cools with a nilon grill brush.
