Editor's Pick: In recent years, "art TVs" have become increasingly popular in North America. The biggest feature of these products is their Matte / Anti-Glare screens, which reduce mirror-like reflections so that when the TV is not showing regular programs and instead displays oil paintings or photography, it looks more like a real painting hanging on the wall. Some of the more representative models currently include Samsung The Frame, TCL Designer Series, Hisense CanvasTV, LG Gallery TV, and Amazon Ember Artline. However, a matte effect is not simply better the stronger it is. Excessive diffusion of ambient light can also make blacks look gray, so you still need to consider screen brightness, color, art mode, and wall-mount design together.

Samsung The Frame is still the benchmark for the entire art TV category. Samsung has accumulated years of experience in Matte Display, ambient light sensing, ultra-slim wall-hugging design, and magnetic bezels. Its control over window and light reflections is very mature, while it does not produce a particularly obvious hazy effect. Combined with thousands of artworks in the Samsung Art Store and a mature Art Mode, it remains the one among the five that comes closest to a real picture frame overall. However, The Frame's drawbacks are also obvious: the price is usually higher, and add-on costs such as decorative bezels and art subscriptions are also greater than those of its competitors.
Hisense CanvasTV and TCL Designer Series are currently the two most outstanding value alternatives to The Frame. Hisense's Hi-Matte Display is very strong at suppressing direct reflections, and in terms of matte effect alone it can even compete with Samsung, usually at a lower price. TCL uses an Ultra Matte Anti-Glare Screen and also offers a wall-hugging mount, magnetic bezels, and a higher refresh rate, making it more balanced between TV performance and artistic design. However, the stronger matte treatment on these two models diffuses light sources across a larger area of the screen, which may cause slight washing out in especially bright environments, and black levels are not as good as those of regular high-end Mini LED TVs.
LG Gallery TV is LG's true art TV aimed at The Frame. Compared with the previous Gallery OLED, which only adopted a wall-hugging design, it adds a Matte Display, magnetic decorative bezels, and a dedicated Gallery Mode. LG's matte layer itself performs very well, and its control of light and window reflections is also top-tier, while the Gallery+ art content ecosystem is expanding rapidly. Its biggest shortcoming is instead the overall screen brightness and 60Hz refresh rate, making it less competitive than Samsung, Hisense, and TCL in very bright living rooms or gaming scenarios, so it is better suited to users who put "art display" first.
Amazon Ember Artline, on the other hand, is more like an art TV built around the Alexa smart home. The Matte Display can noticeably reduce ambient reflections, while Amazon provides a large amount of free artwork and combines Amazon Photos and Alexa+, allowing you to directly call up family photos, create slideshows, and even recommend art content based on room style. Its art and smart home experience is very distinctive, but the TV itself is only 60Hz, and its picture processing, motion performance, and gaming performance are all fairly ordinary. Overall, if you are most focused on picture-frame quality, Samsung The Frame is still the first choice; if you value value for money, you can focus on Hisense CanvasTV and TCL Designer Series; LG leans more toward art display, while Amazon is best suited to Alexa ecosystem users.
