Editor's Pick: If you have a lot of plants in your backyard and occasionally run into snakes, it's worth keeping a bag of this on hand. Sprinkle these granules around your house, garden, or shed to interfere with snakes' ability to track scents, and they'll naturally steer clear. One bag covers half an acre and lasts about three months per application—just reapply after heavy rain or when the scent fades. If you have kids or pets at home, no need to worry too much; just follow the instructions and apply in areas where people don't walk often. At least you won't have to peek around before stepping into the yard anymore.
