The Luna Ultra is the first gimbal camera co-developed by Insta360 and Leica. Available in black and white, the device weighs approximately 232 grams and retains the three-axis mechanical stabilization structure.
It features a dual Leica Summicron optical lens system: the main lens uses a 1-inch 8K sensor with an equivalent 20mm focal length and F1.8 aperture, supporting a 14-stop dynamic range and 8K 30fps Dolby Vision HDR video recording; the other is a 1/1.3-inch telephoto lens with an F2.0 aperture, offering up to 12x hybrid zoom and 6x lossless zoom.
Users can seamlessly switch between common focal lengths (1x, 2x, 3x, 6x, and more) using the built-in zoom slider. The telephoto end delivers DSLR-like portrait bokeh effects and macro capabilities with a 15cm minimum focusing distance. For stills, the Luna Ultra outputs up to 37MP ultra-clear photos and 200MP 2:1 panoramic scenic shots, with the option to add exclusive Leica watermarks.
In terms of design, the Luna Ultra introduces a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen remote control. It can be separated from the camera body for up to 20 meters of stable high-definition video transmission and full control of the camera, and features a built-in wireless microphone for remote audio capture.
Additionally, Insta360 offers immersive first-person head-tracking module. Once paired with the included ear clip accessory, the gimbal and lens move with the wearer's head, allowing you to clearly shoot exactly where you look.
The Luna Ultra is equipped with a 1550mAh battery, capable of 4 hours of continuous shooting. It supports fast charging, reaching 80% in 23 minutes. The camera also features 47 GB of high-speed onboard storage. It works directly with Insta360's Mic series wireless microphones, allowing you to connect two Mic Air or Mic Pro units simultaneously, with automatic dual-channel audio timecode alignment.
问大家
: I'd like to ask, how does it differ from using a phone with a gimbal? What are the advantages and disadvantages? 想问一下它和手机+云台相比有什么差别?有什么优势和缺点?
: After shooting enough, you’ll realize that convenience is sometimes incredibly important. Before every shoot, setting up a bunch of stuff completely kills the creative urge. In short: 1. The image quality is definitely better, thanks to the 1-inch sensor and some depth of field, making video results look more professional. Of course, if you’re good at using your phone with Black Magic Camera, you might get even better shots, but the whole setup and parameter adjustments beforehand are quite a hassle, and different scenes require different settings. Unless you have plenty of time to plan and are extremely efficient in usage, you’ll waste too much time before each shoot just for video quality. 2. Another point: shooting on the go isn’t as awkward compared to using a phone with a gimbal/stabilizer/rig. 3. Plus, it’s more convenient—just pull it out of your pocket, turn it on and use it with one button. Official accessories like UV filters are easy to attach with a magnetic snap. With a phone and a gimbal, you have to balance it each time since the iPhone 17 Pro Max already pushes near the weight limit of the DJI Osmo. In short, there are too many extra steps, and they always kill my desire to shoot. I sold all my previous phone-shooting gear on Facebook Marketplace.
