Disney Plus has raised prices four times in four years, now nearing $21.5 per month

Streaming subscription prices are going up again. Disney recently announced price increases for several of its streaming services, marking the fourth consecutive year of price hikes for the platform. The new prices took effect for new customers on September 23, 2026, and returning customers will see the changes in their next billing cycle.

🔹 Content cuts spark debate

 

What's puzzling is that while costs are soaring, the platform's content is continuously shrinking. The highly anticipated Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again has been confirmed to end in 2027, and live-action Star Wars series production has also stalled. Many users are questioning whether spending $21.50 a month is still worth it.

🔹 Hulu remains competitive

 

Although Disney Plus has scaled back some of its popular IPs, Hulu continues to deliver high-quality original content updates, such as Alien: Earth. Meanwhile, Hulu's next-day streaming of major network channels (ABC, Fox, etc.) makes it more valuable in the bundle.

For budget-conscious subscribers, the $13/month ad-supported bundle currently looks like a highly cost-effective compromise.
