Editor's Pick: Fall is a great time to overseed. Sprinkle this on bare spots and thin patches in your yard, and the tall fescue that grows in is fairly tough under foot traffic and drought-tolerant. It includes fertilizer, so after sowing, water thoroughly, and the new grass will fill in the gaps densely. The 12 lb bag covers a good-sized area, and after you use it and run the mower over it, your lawn will look noticeably thicker.
