Editor's Pick: When kids crouch in the yard to look at leaves and ants, they can point this at a leaf and the vein patterns appear right on the screen—just turn the focus wheel and it's clear. The 2.4-inch screen is big enough that they don't have to squint and lean in. The body is wrapped in a silicone case, so a drop won't break your heart. A full charge lasts about two hours—toss it in a bag when heading out, and you can even connect it to a computer to project the image onto a big screen to watch together.
