: Because the hard drive manufacturers consider 1KB as 1000 bytes, from MB to KB, GB to MB, TB to GB, it's all 1000, not 1024. Therefore, 24*1000^4/1024^4 is exactly 21.8T. It's normal but also shameful. 因为硬盘厂的1KB是1000bytes，从M到K，G到M，T到G都是1000，并不是1024。所以24*1000^4/1024^4正好是21.8T，这是正常的，但也是可耻的。

回复 @道格拉斯铁锨 : Apple is like this—they even paid to have ISO modify the standard to make it the industry norm. HDD manufacturers must be laughing their heads off. Honest Windows and Linux still calculate in 2^10, but for KB, MB, and GB, it's already 1k units. The ISO standard requires adding an "i" for 1024, like kiB, MiB, GiB... 苹果是这样的，还花钱让iso修改标准，成为行业标准，硬盘厂笑嘻了。老实的Windows和linux都还是2^10来计算，但是KB、MB、GB都已经1k单位了，ISO标准1024要加个i，kiB、MiB、GiB……

回复 @匿名用户 : I think luck plays a big part with NAS drives too. I started with Seagate IronWolf NAS drives, and two of them broke within four years. Then I started buying these external hard drives and shucking them for use. Usually, they're high-capacity drives with bad sectors mapped out or that have been downclocked, but I've used them for five years now, and only one has developed 16 bad sectors. nas 盘我觉得运气成份也很高，一开始用的是酷狼 nas 盘，结果四年坏了两个，而来买这种移动硬盘，拆出来用。这种盘一般都是大容量有坏道屏蔽掉跟降速盘，结果用五年了，只有一个出现16个坏道。
