Editor's Pick: Bringing a tripod that doubles as a monopod when you're out shooting video saves you a lot of hassle. This one folds down to just 16.9 inches (43 cm), so it slips right into a side pocket of your backpack. The four-section legs with three flip locks set up fast, and it extends up to 71 inches (180 cm) — plenty for group shots or overhead angles. The 36mm metal ball head rotates a full 360 degrees, and the center column can be inverted, so low-angle shots close to the ground are no problem either. As for payload, it holds up to 33 lbs (15 kg) vertically, keeping mirrorless or DSLR cameras with a standard lens steady.
