Editor's Pick: Place a floor lamp beside the sofa—whether you're reading at night or curled up scrolling on your phone, the light is much softer than an overhead fixture. The rubberwood tripod base sits stably on the floor, so it's not easy to knock over even with kids or pets running around. The lampshade is a linen drum style that gives off a glare-free glow. The foot switch is really handy—when you don't want to get up, just reach out and step on it to turn it off.
