Editor's Pick: French brand Focal established itself as a leader in high-end over-ear headphones ever since launching the Utopia flagship headphones in 2016, but in recent years new releases have been few and far between, with mostly refreshes of past products. Then at the end of 2022, Focal introduced the Bathys, a completely new product line. The Bathys is positioned as a high-end Hi-Res wireless noise-cancelling headphone, but in this category, there are really only two competitors: B&O and B&W (Mark Levinson counts too, but its brand recognition is too small).
The Bathys wireless over-ear headphones feature Bluetooth 5.1 and active noise cancellation. The headphones offer 2 noise-cancelling modes — a "Silent" mode for noisy environments and a "Soft" mode to improve focus — and this technology delivers perfect sound isolation. The headphones also have a "Transparency" mode, allowing users to hear their surroundings when needed.
These headphones are crafted in Focal's workshop in France, and the patented aluminum/magnesium "M"-shaped dome speaker drivers deliver detailed, powerful, pure high-fidelity sound.
