[Expired]OnePlus 13T Launch | Compact Flagship + High Performance
In today's world where smartphones are increasingly competing on size, fans of compact phones find it harder to find options that balance comfort, performance, and battery life. On April 24th, OnePlus introduced their first flagship that focuses on compact size + performance – the OnePlus 13T – attempting to break the traditional notion that compact size = performance compromise.
This phone is already available in the Chinese market and is expected to launch globally in the coming months. Is it truly a compact flagship worth your attention? Let's take a look at its highlights.
Design
The OnePlus 13T features a 6.32-inch flat AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution (2772x1240), supporting 120Hz refresh rate and 1.07 billion colors, earning a DisplayMate A++ certification. This screen comes from OnePlus's self-developed display science production line and claims industry-leading brightness uniformity and color consistency.
The device weighs just 185 grams (6.5 oz) and features ultra-narrow bezels, a 50:50 weight distribution design, and OnePlus's signature curvature craftsmanship. The overall feel is comparable to a hybrid between iPhone 13 mini and Pro series – lightweight yet premium.
Performance
For core performance, the OnePlus 13T is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. AnTuTu benchmark tests show scores exceeding 3 million, making it among the highest-performing compact smartphones available. What's more interesting is its cooling system. The OnePlus 13T introduces a multi-layer cooling solution called the Glacier Cooling System, which includes a large 4400mm² vapor chamber heat dissipation plate, specialized graphite materials, and the industry's first Glacier Back Cover technology for smartphones. These technologies help reduce core temperatures during heavy usage, preventing thermal throttling from affecting performance.
Gaming Optimization
Gaming experience is another key focus of the OnePlus 13T. It comes with OnePlus's self-developed HyperBoost Gaming Engine, a technology that optimizes CPU and GPU scheduling at the chipset level. According to official claims, this allows the OnePlus 13T to deliver sustained high graphics quality with maximum frame rates in games like Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings, and Justice Online.
Battery
The OnePlus 13T is equipped with a massive 6260mAh Glacier Battery, setting a new record for compact smartphones. The battery uses X24 silicon-carbon negative electrode material with an energy density of 851Wh/L, offering not just high capacity but also reasonable weight control. Combined with OnePlus's SUPERVOOC S power management chip, it supports 80W fast charging and features a bypass charging system that can directly power the system during gaming, reducing heat generation while extending battery life.
Minor Shortcomings:
- Camera configuration is adequate but not outstanding, lacking versatility
- No wireless charging or LTPO adaptive refresh rate, which feels missing in the premium market
- IP65 dust and water resistance is sufficient for daily use but falls short of current flagship standards (IP68/IP69)
- No ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, making the unlocking experience less smooth than some competitors
The OnePlus 13T is already available in China and is expected to launch globally in the coming months. The standard version is priced at 3399 RMB (approximately $466 USD), with U.S. pricing yet to be announced. While there's some debate about its price point in China, international users generally consider it to offer exceptional value for money. If it launches in North America at a similar price point, the OnePlus 13T could be a strong competitor to the Pixel 9a and iPhone 16E. Overall, the Editor's Pick is that this phone is well-suited for those who love watching videos, playing mobile games, or for younger users.
For now, though, there's only one conclusion: we can only continue to wait patiently for it to cross the ocean, and maybe give our wallets some time to recover too!

: If I buy it from Mainland China, I wonder if Mint Mobile would work? Plus, I'd probably need to flash the ROM myself since the Chinese version doesn't come with the full suite of Google apps. 国内买来的话,不知道mint mobile能不能用?而且还要自己刷系统吧,国内自带的没有google全家桶
: I recommend checking on Kimovil. Generally, the Mainland China version supports fewer US bands, making it more prone to signal issues compared to the international version. If you only use it in densely populated areas, it might not be a big problem. 建议kimovil查一下,一般来说国行的支持的美国频段较少,相对国际版更容易出现信号不好的情况。如果只在人多的地区使用估计问题不大。
回复 @AppleId_EC7e0y33 : Nope, it runs the domestic OS, now ColorOS. 没,就是国内的系统,现在是color os
