Amazon announced (effective August 19, 2026) that its AI assistant Alexa Plus will now be available to all eligible Fire TV device users across the United States. Previously, non-Prime members had to pay a $20/month subscription fee, but now eligible devices can use it at no monthly cost.
Supported Devices:
- Latest generation Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Fire TV Cube
- Amazon Ember series smart TVs
- Hisense or Panasonic smart TVs with built-in support
Experience Upgrade Comparison:
| Feature | Traditional Alexa | Alexa Plus |
| Language Understanding | Relies on specific keywords | Supports natural language conversations |
| Search Logic | Precise command-based search | Multi-dimensional fuzzy recommendations |
| Interaction Experience | One-way commands | Supports contextual follow-up questions |
Smart Home Control:
Users can now directly use voice commands to pull up security camera feeds on their TV screen, or remotely operate smart locks. Thanks to improved comprehension, official data shows interaction frequency has nearly doubled compared to the previous version.
Global Rollout:
The no-monthly-fee policy currently applies mainly to the United States. The assistant is already live in 9 countries including the UK, Canada, and Germany. Amazon plans to expand to more countries within 2026, and add 10 new coverage regions in 2027.
