USPS's annual Operation Santa is back. This activity has been going on for a century and has become a traditional Christmas event. Both adults and children can write letters to Santa with their wishes, hoping they're lucky enough to receive a reply and gifts. You can also play the role of Santa by buying Christmas gifts for those who wrote wishes - the joy of giving is a reward in itself.

How to write a letter?

• Prepare an envelope and address it to Santa (address provided on the website), making sure to clearly write your full name and address as the sender. Place a First-Class stamp in the top right corner.
• In your letter, list the gifts you want in order of preference. Be specific about the details of the gifts, such as size, color, etc., to make it easier for Santa to prepare. Don't ask for anything too expensive.
• If a family is writing, all letters can be placed in one envelope with postage paid according to the weight. If a class or organization is writing, each person should mail their letter in separate envelopes.
• The official website thoughtfully provides many letter templates that you can print.
• Do not place any 3D decorations on the letter as they will interfere with scanning.
• The mailing deadline is December 6th.

How to send gifts to others?

• Register for an adopt account and log in.
• USPS will post the letters they receive online (starting November 17th). You can read these letters online, find ones you're interested in, and act as Santa by sending gifts to the letter writers.
• Purchase the gifts you want to send and package them according to the guidelines.
• You need to ship the gifts before December 13th at a designated USPS location.
