Tesla FSD One-Time Purchase Discontinued, Only Available on Select Premium Models
Attention Tesla owners in North America. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, Tesla's US official website has formally removed the option to directly purchase FSD (Full Self-Driving) outright, with the feature package completely transitioning to a subscription model.
Currently, only a few high-end models retain a "window" to avoid monthly fees. If you want permanent access to FSD, you'll need to purchase specific configurations:

Tesla has closed related loopholes: the above permanent ownership benefits are now marked as Non-transferable. This means the benefits stay with the vehicle rather than the owner and cannot be transferred to the next owner, which will directly impact the vehicle's resale value.
In the future, Tesla is expected to introduce Unsupervised FSD and Supervised FSD based on feature maturity, with differentiated pricing. The current subscription fee in the US remains at $99/month.
Globally, policies are also tightening. For example, Australia's one-time purchase deadline has been clearly adjusted to March 31, 2026. It's recommended that prospective North American Tesla owners who want to purchase FSD outright make their decision as soon as possible.
