"God of War: Laufey" Officially Revealed | Kratos' Wife as Protagonist
PlayStation Studios has officially announced the new collection God of War: Faye, taking players back to another side of Norse mythology. This time, the story focuses on Kratos' wife, Faye, marking the start of a new journey parallel to the God of War series.
God of War: Faye Summary
Main Protagonist: Faye (Laufey/Faye)
Setting: Everywhen – A battleground for power across pantheons
Signature Weapon: The legendary divine sword entrusted by her companion Rue
Expected Release: Earliest in 2027
🔹 Perspective Switch: Where the Dream Began
A 20-minute live gameplay reveal shows a striking opening: after Kratos and his son perform Faye’s funeral, she wakes up in a new, unfamiliar realm.
During her journey, Faye will meet two very different companions: Phranque (voiced by Jack Quaid), an upright cosmic cube, and Rue (voiced by Perlina Lau), the guardian of the magical sash.
🔹 Action Innovation: A New Level of Brutal Elegance
Faye's fighting style is entirely different from Kratos, featuring much more agile movements. Her weapon can be precisely thrown and retrieved, with combat logic powered by the sensory sash Rue, while keeping Santa Monica Studio’s high standard of feel and feedback.
As the previous owner of the Leviathan Axe, Faye now wields the legendary divine sword entrusted by Rue, focusing on high-speed, high-control combo rhythms. Meanwhile, as a giant’s Golden Hand, she can enhance her soul-based spells significantly in Everywhen, even using her golden hand to slap a target's soul out of their body for mid-air combos.
Currently, no specific release date is confirmed, with the earliest estimate being 2027. Let’s stay tuned. Additionally, the studio has released several behind-the-scenes videos, delving into the game’s development process and cast.
