If you mainly do short, lightweight day hikes, these might seem like "overkill"; however, if you're backpacking long trails or frequently encounter rugged, wet, and more technical routes, that's when these boots prove their worth. Simply put, they're not designed for quick, light trails, but rather a reliable choice that provides more stability and confidence on hardcore terrain.

Sizing recommendation: Consider going down half a size

Salomon's sizing generally runs large. It's recommended to go down 0.5 size from your regular size. This will still leave adequate room for foot swelling after long hikes while providing the best fit when worn with medium-thickness merino wool socks.
