Editor's Pick: OshKosh B'gosh is an American family and children's clothing brand with a long history, founded in 1895. It's known for its durable "workwear style" children's clothing, especially the classic hickory stripe overalls/denim overalls.
"Hickory stripe" was a common pattern in early American workwear, featuring symmetrically striped canvas/denim twill, usually in blue-white or blue-gray-white combinations with distinct contrast. This pattern gradually became a classic due to its practicality and visual recognition. Though due to differences in era, fit, and dyeing techniques, the texture of vintage hickory stripe differs from many modern reproductions.
The OshKosh® Reissued Hickory collections features iconic styles rediscovered, reproduced, or "reissued" from the brand's archives. These styles have been modernized with contemporary fabrics, cuts, colors, and comfort to meet the needs of today's parents and children.
"Josh B'gosh" is a hickory-clad bear mascot introduced by the brand in 1998, now making a comeback on sweatshirts, plush toys, and other items.
This new release includes 90s-inspired corduroy prints, train motifs, teddy bears, Nutcracker, and other classic children's clothing themes reimagined with brighter colors that better align with modern aesthetics. While the designs are nostalgic, the fabrics used are softer, more elastic, and easier to care for, considering children's comfort, freedom of movement, and ease of dressing. For example, the hickory stripe fabric is softer and smoother than previous vintage versions.
