The distinction between unlock timeframes (60 days vs. 365 days) is primarily determined by activation date and device type: 60-day automatic unlock (old policy / specific devices): Devices activated on TracFone, Total Wireless, or Straight Talk before late January 2026 typically qualify for automatic or request-based unlocking after just 60 days of paid active service. 365-day (1-year) unlock (new policy): For devices newly activated on prepaid plans starting late January 2026, Verizon has uniformly adjusted its anti-fraud policy, requiring 365 consecutive days of paid service before an unlock can be requested. Other Verizon-network MVNOs you can switch between include: Visible, US Mobile's Warp network, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, as well as Total Wireless, Straight Talk, and TracFone.
