Foldable iPhone Details Revealed: FaceID Removed and No Side Buttons

According to 9to5Mac, Apple's first foldable phone, iPhone Fold, is expected to launch in late 2026. Beyond the basic folding design, this model will introduce three unique design features never before used by Apple, aimed at enhancing thinness and optimizing internal space utilization.

🔹 1. Hole-Punch Display and Touch ID Return

Due to limited internal space in the foldable screen, Apple has not yet been able to fit two sets of Face ID components into the ultra-thin display structure. As a result, the iPhone Fold will adopt a single hole-punch design similar to Android phones, and will integrate Touch ID into the side power button for biometric authentication.

🔹 2. Unique Display Aspect Ratio

Leaked CAD images show that the external screen is wider than conventional iPhones, while the unfolded inner screen presents a "notebook-like" aspect ratio. This design gives the inner screen a more horizontally expansive visual experience compared to the current iPad mini.

🔹 3. Complete Removal of Physical Buttons on Left Side

According to leaker Instant Digital, since the motherboard is located on the right side of the device, Apple has chosen to completely remove physical buttons from the left side to avoid having to run cables across the screen. This not only simplifies the internal structure around the hinge but also reserves more space for the battery.
