Daniel Wu Voices "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2"
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has added another surprising voice actor to its cast — Daniel Wu. According to the latest official announcement, Daniel Wu will join this animated sequel co-produced by CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER, voicing a brand-new character named Kirill Yang.
So far, officials haven't revealed much about Kirill Yang's specific identity — his faction, background, and importance to the plot all remain a mystery. However, it's worth noting that among the main characters already announced for Edgerunners 2 is a figure named Talia Yang. The two share the same surname, which has sparked plenty of speculation among fans about their relationship, though officials have yet to confirm whether the two are related.
Unlike the first season, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will not continue the story of David and Lucy. Instead, it shifts the perspective back to Night City, following a brand-new group of edgerunners in a separate, standalone storyline. The new season is still a collaboration between CD PROJEKT RED and animation studio TRIGGER, and will continue the brutal, wild, and deeply tragic Night City tales set within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
Daniel Wu's involvement adds another layer of excitement to the project. As an actor active in both Chinese-language cinema and Hollywood, he has a very high profile and has prior experience with animation voice work. Given that the Cyberpunk series has always enjoyed casting live-action actors to help shape its characters, having Daniel Wu voice Kirill Yang fits perfectly with the franchise's established casting style.
As for whether Kirill Yang is a key figure in the new story or has a deeper connection to Talia Yang, we'll have to wait for further official announcements. For fans of both Daniel Wu and the Cyberpunk series, this is undoubtedly another exciting point of interest to look forward to before Edgerunners 2 premieres.
