MSI Claw 8 EX AI Plus Flagship Handheld Released on June 23

A major new player is entering the handheld gaming space. MSI officially unveiled its latest flagship handheld, the Claw 8 EX AI Plus, on the eve of Computex Taipei 2026. As one of the top-tier handhelds in the market, this model is slated for release in 3 weeks (June 23rd).

Compared to the 2024 model, this new handheld features major spec upgrades. To match the flagship-level price of around $1,500, MSI has packed impressive hardware, with core specs matching industry-leading standards:

As of now, the $1,699 price tag reflects the high-end model showcased in Taipei, and MSI may release entry-level versions with lower RAM and storage configurations in the future. Meanwhile, competitors like the Acer Predator Atlas 8 and OneXPlayer will also feature the same chip, leading to heated competition in the premium handheld market.

: The previous generation machine wasn't worth buying even at $499, and now at $1699, I think they shouldn't even bother selling it. If the memory and storage prices were normal, this machine would be worth at most $899. For now, it's best not to buy anything with memory or storage—prices will drop in a year or so.
