Google Earth Ushers in the AI Restoration Era
Google Earth recently announced the integration of the Nano Banana image generation tool. Based on the Gemini 3 model, this tool uses AI technology to provide visual predictions and reconstructions for geographic coordinates, and it is now officially available.
The official showcase includes many interesting examples, such as reconstructing the ruins of Pompeii into the bustling streetscape before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, or automatically generating an encyclopedia-style infographic of the Statue of Liberty with details like height and materials. After generation, users can continue to refine details using the Refine Image feature and save it to their own Google Earth project.

Especially when it comes to historical scenes or future predictions, it should be used for reference only and not as factual evidence.
