New North American Elantra Hybrid Revealed: More Space, 10% Lower Fuel Consumption
In June, Hyundai unveiled the eighth-generation Elantra (known as the Avante in its home market of South Korea). The new model features significant upgrades in both design language and body dimensions, along with a remarkable breakthrough in the fuel efficiency of its hybrid system.
According to Aju Business Daily, the new model equipped with 17-inch wheels has seen its official fuel economy rating improve by 10%, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency alongside more powerful performance.

Notably, the new 17-inch model even outperforms the previous model with 16-inch wheels (which posted 49.63 MPG in the South Korean market).
🔹 North American Market Outlook
Currently, the EPA rates the current Elantra Hybrid with 16-inch wheels at 54 MPG in the U.S. The 2026 U.S.-spec model is expected to make its debut soon. Despite the new model's increased weight and 16-horsepower boost, its 17-inch version still holds strong with a combined fuel economy of around 50 MPG, matching the Korean version.
