A20 Pro: This generation features the A20 Pro 2nm chip with a 6-core CPU and 7-core GPU. Apple highlighted the GPU architecture upgrade at the launch event, claiming performance improvements of up to about 40%, while continuing to enhance on-device Apple Intelligence / Siri AI processing.
Cooling: The 17 Pro already had a vapor chamber, but the 18 Pro upgrades to a new-generation Vapor Chamber with a surface area about 3 times larger. This improvement is especially practical for sustained high-load scenarios like long gaming sessions or shooting 4K video.
Camera: The variable aperture is finally here! The main camera remains a 48MP Fusion Main Camera but now features a mechanical 6-blade aperture structure. In low-light conditions, the aperture can open wider to let in more light; in bright conditions or when you want to control depth of field, you can stop it down. Apple has also added more Pro Controls, allowing manual adjustments including shutter speed for both photos and videos. Video now supports 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse.
Battery Life: The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers up to 45 hours, setting a new record for iPhone battery life. As for fast charging, the iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50% in about 15 minutes; the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide up to about 7 hours of video playback with just a 5-minute wired charge!
