Editor's Pick: If you want to try wheel throwing at home without investing in professional equipment right away, this kit is ready to use right out of the box. The turntable supports dual-direction rotation with foot-controlled speed adjustment, and the speed displays right on the LED screen so you don't have to look down and guess while shaping a cup. The kit includes clay, eight pottery tools, twelve colors of acrylic paint, and brushes—shape your piece, let it dry, then paint it, and you can have a finished project in an afternoon. As a craft project for kids six and up, working with their hands keeps them much calmer than staring at a screen.
