Charging features: The USB-C Pencil has simplified the charging mode. The 1st generation used an awkward direct iPad charging method (requiring an adapter for direct charging), the 2nd generation used magnetic attachment to the iPad's edge, while this model simply uses a direct USB-C connection.
Pressure sensitivity:
The new Pencil doesn't offer pressure-sensitive color variation or line thickness changes that mimic real drawing. This is actually beneficial for non-designers and casual users, as many people buy the pencil just for taking notes or making annotations. Although the Apple Pencil has the best pressure sensitivity feedback among styluses, this feature is unnecessary for these users.
No double-tap functionality:
Compared to the 2nd generation Pencil, the new Pencil eliminates the double-tap feature for switching tools. Many people reading this might just now realize that the Pencil 2 had this double-tap functionality, which allows for tool switching during creative work.
