Whether wearing one or both earbuds, after hearing English or Spanish, there's about a 1-second delay before it automatically reads out the Chinese translation. The accuracy isn't perfect, but even those who don't understand English can grasp the meaning with almost no issues. The AirPods' mic is surprisingly powerful—when passing by someone's car at Costco, it actually "eavesdropped" and translated the driver's conversation... No data connection is needed; it works even in airplane mode. The translation feature during phone calls is also very useful, similar to having an online simultaneous interpreter, though it doesn't mimic your voice. Highly recommended for households with elderly family members or anyone who doesn't understand English. Note: This feature requires an iPhone 15 or newer. Headphone experience: AirPods 4 ANC: Very comfortable for extended wear. AirPods Pro 3: Offers stronger noise cancellation, clear call quality while driving, and even includes a hearing aid function for the elderly.
