[Expired]Ti14 Main Event is About to Kick Off | Can the Former Wings Players Defend the Nation Once Again?
In the recently concluded DOTA 2 TI14 Swiss round group stage, Chinese teams experienced a long-awaited moment of glory.
Xtreme Gaming advanced dominantly with a perfect 4-0 record, while Team Tidebound followed closely with 4-1, both securing spots in the top eight of the main event, becoming the most competitive duo in this TI.
However, another Chinese team, Yakutou Brothers, was unfortunately eliminated after losing to South American powerhouse HEROIC in the elimination round.
Since Wings Gaming's championship at TI6, Chinese Dota has gone nine long years without lifting the Aegis of Champions. Now, with both Xtreme Gaming and Team Tidebound advancing to the top eight of the main event, we longtime players finally have our hopes rekindled this autumn.
- Xtreme Gaming: Ame Marches Forward Again
Ame's name is already etched in Chinese Dota history. He was once the closest to becoming a champion, yet also became a source of regret for many due to that "Morphling high ground push." Today, he leads Xtreme Gaming with teammates Xm, Xxs, XinQ, and newcomer poloson, sweeping through the group stage with a 4-0 record to become one of the most promising championship contenders at TI14.
This XG is no longer an experimental team, but a mature championship lineup. Ame is no longer the youth charging forward alone, but a leader guiding his brothers for one more shot at glory. This battle isn't to prove himself, but to give closure to their youth.
- Team Tidebound: Wings Veterans Reunite
While Tidebound's roster isn't a complete recreation of Wings, the return of y` and NothingToSay, combined with the powerful trio of shiro, Bach, and planet, has made this team a vessel of nostalgia. They advanced from the group stage with a 4-1 record, only narrowly losing to XG.
Wings' last championship was back at TI6. That year, we thought Chinese Dota would usher in a new dynasty, never expecting every TI thereafter to become a bitter memory. Now, Tidebound has regrouped, maintaining their bold and creative playstyle, as if declaring to the world: the spirit of China's guardian wings has never faded.
- Main Event Begins, China's Two Champions March Forward Together
The main event will officially begin at 2 AM US Central Time on September 11th (XG vs Tundra), with Ame leading his team against "Stone Man" Tundra Esports. Tidebound will face Team Falcons at 4 PM the same day, continuing to fight for Chinese Dota's honor.
This TI is more than just a competition—it's an echo of our youth. We veteran players no longer stay up late for ranked matches or argue about wins and losses, but that dedication to the championship has never disappeared from our hearts.
If Chinese teams can lift the Aegis this time, it will not only validate the teams but also serve as a tribute and closure to our youth.
