From "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (1984) to "The Boy and the Heron" (2023), Joe Hisaishi has been composing music for Hayao Miyazaki's films. He has created soundtracks for more than 80 films in Japan and overseas, receiving numerous awards for his work, including several Japan Academy Film Prize Excellence in Music Awards and the 2024 Winsor McCay Award at the 51st Annie Awards. Since April 2024, he has served as the composer-in-residence for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the UK; and starting April 2025, he will become the Music Director of the Century Symphony Orchestra in Japan.
