The industry trend over these two weeks has been consistent: Samsung's long-rumored "tri-fold" smartphone has entered the final stages of development. Unlike traditional dual-fold devices, the real change with the tri-fold isn't just "one more fold" but rather combining three form factors—smartphone, small tablet, and nearly 10-inch screen—into a single device. When closed, it functions as a regular smartphone; partially opened, it becomes a portable small tablet; and fully opened, it transforms into an OLED display close to 10 inches, essentially a pocket-sized lightweight workstation.
Details uncovered by multiple media outlets from firmware and system animations show that this device uses "two inward-folding hinges" (known in the industry as the G-fold solution). It's deeply integrated with One UI 8's multi-window and continuity features, focusing on solving the experience gap of "how to naturally transition between phone and tri-screen large display" modes.
International media has now reached a relatively stable consensus about its appearance: when fully unfolded, the main screen measures approximately 9.9-10 inches, with brightness reportedly reaching 2,600 nits. The cover display when folded is around 6.5 inches. The overall approach seems less about showing off technology and more about streamlining experiences like calls, messaging, spreadsheets/PPTs, and split-screen video conferencing.
Regarding imaging capabilities, it will likely utilize the same premium camera configuration as existing high-end foldables, with leaks even specifically mentioning a "200MP main camera." For performance, it will most likely feature the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, gaining access to the same AI and multi-device collaboration features found in the Galaxy series. On pricing, Korean channels have already set expectations at "over 4 million Korean won" (approximately $2,900), suggesting this is more of a "premium showcase" than a mass-market device.
Media sources still disagree on the release schedule and regions: some believe it will "launch in limited Asian markets first, within this year," such as Korea and China; others suggest it might "launch in the US simultaneously with Korea." From a consumer perspective, a reasonable expectation is that it's likely to be unveiled this year, but widespread availability will depend on production capacity and ecosystem integration.
This "tri-fold" seems to push the boundaries of mobile productivity one step further—if you're looking to combine lightweight productivity and entertainment in a single device, it's worth watching. If you're more concerned about price, weight, or durability, it's better to wait for the initial reviews and durability tests before making a purchase. Being a rational early adopter always makes for a better experience.

: Just take the iPad with you.
: The Chinese name is directly called "Yibo" because of the idiom "yī bō sān zhé" (meaning "full of twists and turns").
: People who have used foldable phones know that this one must drain battery quickly.
: Folding phones are really unnecessary. It would be better to just lower the price and turn them into folding tablets... 。。
: I've bought the Fold3, 4, and 6. Apart from the dust-proof strip on the hinges of the 3 and 4 getting rolled in and jamming the hinges, there haven't been any other issues. Repairs were free under warranty, and even out of warranty, it didn't affect Samsung's trade-in program. As for those complaining about the crease being "explosively" noticeable... who stares at the crease all day anyway?
: Folding Z Flip, used it for a few days and no longer love it. It's just collecting dust now... Designed to fold for the sake of folding, a pretty useless design. Not sure what regular users think of it
: I was about to say there might be suitable use cases, but then I saw the price—$3,000!? For that amount, you could buy a smartphone, an iPad Pro, and a MacBook combined.
Spending 3k on that combo would be way more practical than buying this.
: I'll still buy an Apple phone plus an iPad mini.
: Fold 6, I won't consider foldable phones. The crease is very noticeable, don't listen to those YouTube influencers exaggerating. The crease is so obvious that one more glance would make it explode, and getting closer would melt you away🫠. I won't touch foldable screens anymore.
: For Fold6 and Fold7 users, first of all, the crease on the 7 is even less noticeable. Another thing is, when it comes to usage, I personally don't really mind it at all. When looking at the screen head-on with it lit up, it's basically invisible, and even when touching it, it doesn't affect me—I often play games on it. fold6和7的用户, 首先7折痕更加不明显了,再有一个用起来我自己其实完全无所谓正面看亮屏基本看不到就算上手摸到也不影响我经常打游戏
: I thought it was 70% off...
: Samsung is trash.
: Damn, it's actually cheaper than the "Far Ahead" brand?
: More high-end, looking forward to it...
: It's expensive and breaks easily, just for the rich who don't mind spending!
: I've been using it since the Fold 4, and now I'm on the 6. It's never broken... probably just isolated cases. Samsung is genuinely not as bad as it used to be
回复 @Jasonlegendary : I also saw a friend who previously bought a Fold3, and upon trying it, it's actually quite good—better than I imagined.
: It's also quite user-friendly on iPad and mobile devices. ipad

: Do you have any usable AI on your iPhone? Is your iPhone more powerful than Snapdragon?
回复 @匿名用户 : I've used Apple's AI, and it's really a piece of crap.
: It will take at least two more years for foldable phones to become truly crease-free and affordable.
: Can it be used in Mainland China?
: The inner screen is not durable. My previous Fold4's inner screen cracked within a year, and now my Fold5 has developed fine lines on the inner screen just after the warranty expired. Replacing the inner screen costs around 500 yuan. Unless you upgrade to a new phone every year, it's better to stay away from foldable screens.
