[Expired]Nintendo switch 2 enhanced game

round up

Ever since the NS2 console and its launch titles were announced, many players have felt the lineup was a bit underwhelming. Compared to the Switch 1's launch with "Super Mario Odyssey" and the ported "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" serving as the iconic mascot duo, there's definitely a gap. Besides the bundled high-volume seller "Mario Kart World," we only have "Donkey Kong Country Returns HD" releasing on July 17. The paid console manual exhibition "Secret Exhibition" seems too small in scope; "Metroid Prime 4" and the new Zelda Warriors title are still just promises, while third-party titles like "Cyberpunk 2077," "Hogwarts Legacy," and "Street Fighter 6" are currently delivering more impressive performances.

According to Nintendo's sales figures, NS2 sold 3.5 million units in just 4 days, so many of you likely have your consoles in hand already. With the launch lineup now confirmed, let's look at which older games could be enhanced on NS2 to provide a completely different gaming experience. It's worth noting that due to hardware improvements, games will generally see speed boosts in loading and performance, but because NS2 uses a new 1080p 120Hz screen, some games haven't been optimized for pixel-perfect scaling, potentially resulting in display quality that's inferior to the OLED model. This isn't specifically calling out the "Xenoblade Chronicles" series (just kidding).

Free First-Party Upgrades

1. "Super Mario Odyssey": Resolution optimization, HDR support; new 2-player local/online game sharing.

2. "Splatoon 3": Enhanced resolution, improved frame rates in certain scenes, smoother Salmon Run experience, a somewhat gimmicky mouse mode, and exclusive ground-level and enemy ink rolling bugs.

3. "Pokémon Scarlet"/"Pokémon Violet": Resolution increased to 4K, frame rate boosted to 60fps; open-world draw distance increased by 200%, more Pokémon visible on screen simultaneously.

4. "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe": Resolution optimized to 4K, supports 8-device local multiplayer.

5. "ARMS": Resolution increased to 4K, frame rate optimized to 120fps, new HDR support for silky-smooth boxing.

6. "Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury": Enhanced resolution, frame rate upgraded to 120fps; Bowser's Fury mode supports HDR; new 4-player local game sharing.

7. "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker": Enhanced resolution, HDR support.

8. "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" & "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Link's Awakening": Enhanced resolution, HDR support.

Paid First-Party Upgrades

1. "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" & "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom": $9.99 / 50 HKD upgrade; native 4K resolution output, optimized handheld mode screen resolution, new HDR10+ support, improved textures, dynamic resolution locked at 60fps. Integration with Nintendo Switch app enables Notes feature: interactive map navigation for Hyrule, a "Google Maps for Hyrule" essential for 100% completion; Blueprint sharing lets you easily replicate expert designs with a simple QR scan, so your MK2 won't fly crooked anymore; Voice Memories automatically play when you reach specific locations, officially encouraging you to save the princess with some sweet moments.

Strongly recommended for new players or starting a fresh save - the complete open-world Zelda experience is truly incredible, and since the enhanced version is considered a 2025 release, both games currently hold the top two spots in Metacritic's 2025 game rankings.

2. "Pokémon Z-A": Still in development, but worth watching for those with extra eShop credit or planning to buy the first-generation cartridge before upgrading. Expected improvements include enhanced resolution and frame rate, improved scene textures and mapping quality.

Enhanced Third-Party Experiences

1. "Fortnite": Released NS2-exclusive client, automatically inherits progress, improved loading speed, stable high frame rate.

2. "Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes": Stable 60fps, a Fire Emblem spin-off.

3. "Resident Evil" series: Stable 60fps performance.

4. "Dragon Quest Builders 2": A prime example of brute-force porting that performed poorly on NS1, especially in later stages. Significantly improved experience on NS2.

5. "Slay the Spire" & "Inscryption": Stable 60fps, more responsive controls, no lag even with complex deck builds.

6. "Bayonetta 3": Cutscenes maintain 30fps, gameplay runs at a stable 60fps.

As NS2 ownership increases, both first-party and third-party developers will continue releasing patches and upgrade packages to enhance NS1 games. Recent rumors suggest Nintendo's next Direct presentation will announce an official enhancement for the "picking up sticks" game, though we should remain cautiously optimistic. While waiting for new announcements, will you be dusting off your old games for another playthrough? The editor has already started a new save in Tears of the Kingdom and is completely lost in the game world!

: Two weeks ago, I received a purchase invitation from Nintendo for the Mario Kart bundle that I pre-ordered. But after watching so many unboxing videos, I lost my excitement and gave up. I should be able to buy it easily when I want it later.
