: Newbie here, if I want to use a USB-C iPad Pro + N5005 for wired Apple Music lossless listening, what am I missing in between? Any recommendations?
回复 @打人硕 : For the link-challenged: Mac’s 3.5mm jack auto-detects impedance (150Ω→1.25V RMS; 150–1KΩ→3V RMS). No amp needed for high-res audio (up to 96kHz). The 3.5 mm headphone jack on compatible Mac computers features DC load detection and adaptive voltage output. Your Mac can detect the impedance of the connected device and will adapt its output for low- and high-impedance headphones, as well as for line-level audio devices. When you connect headphones with an impedance of less than 150 ohms, the headphone jack provides up to 1.25 volts RMS. For headphones with an impedance of 150 to 1k ohms, the headphone jack delivers 3 volts RMS. This may remove the need for an external headphone amplifier. With impedance detection, adaptive voltage output, and a built-in digital-to-analog converter that supports sample rates of up to 96 kHz, you can enjoy high-fidelity, full-resolution audio directly from the headphone jack on your Mac.
回复 @匿名用户 : OP meant this dongle: [link]. Tested N5005 with Apple dongle (1V RMS/40mW) vs. balanced cable (4V RMS/160mW). Night-and-day difference in soundstage.
: Total newbie here also bought one just following the hype, just wanna listen to pop music. Could the pros here explain the terms like “direct drive” and “dongle” to me? I just want to connect it to an iPhone to listen to music, prefer headphones with good sound quality—will this one do the job?
回复 @开着卡丁车看着日落 : You’ll need a dongle. I’m using Fiio (a Chinese brand) at the moment and it’s pretty good, available on Amazon. There are many dongle brands out there—just pick one you like. But definitely make sure to get a dongle with a DAC (digital-to-analog converter). Some are just plain adapters and the effect is poor.
: iPhone doesn’t have a headphone jack anymore. Using Bluetooth will result in some sound quality loss. “Dongle” refers to a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter, which has an audio processing chip inside, so when you connect wired headphones to your iPhone, the sound quality will be a bit better. iPhone
: Does this thing leak electricity? I bought an AKG before, and it leaked electricity every day, numbing me.
回复 @皮球 : Just using it normally, it gives you a shock from time to time. I basically use it plugged into my MacBook. MacBooks sometimes leak electricity themselves, don't know if it's related to this. Anyway, both my computer and headphones shock me.
回复 @Rollz : If it keeps shocking me for so long, I might really need to be sent for treatment one day..
回复 @cicibox2 : Good headphones image instruments spatially (e.g., classical). IEMs lag behind over-ears, but these improve directional cues.
: Caution: Unless you have an amp that costs 1-2 times more than this to drive it. The sound is terrible when directly connected to phones, but properly amped, it performs at its original price level.
: Is this any good?
回复 @争取当美食博主的铲屎官 : Sound perception is subjective - good or bad depends on personal preference. Personally think it's good quality, but times have changed - not as convenient as current portable Bluetooth earbuds
回复 @争取当美食博主的铲屎官 : The sound quality is better than my previous headphones, but it doesn’t quite compare to over-ear headphones.
: I was introduced to this by a friend, bought a Tri Starsea, and listened for two years. Lost it yesterday, now looking for a new one, but heard the 5005 won't work with phones. Any recommendations for entry-level headphones?
回复 @离泽 : If you mainly use Bluetooth, definitely go for the N5005—its stock Bluetooth cable drives it well. If you don’t use amps or dongles, the Aria suits you better. The N5005 requires a 4.4mm cable swap. Both are great value—the N5005 has better resolution, while the Aria has stronger (but slightly bloated) bass.
: IEMs are designed to be portable and plug into phones, saying they can't be driven defies logic.

: Newbie question: Planning to plug these into a MacBook Pro (3.5mm jack) for lossless music. Apple’s site says the jack works fine, but would a USB-C dongle be better?
: USB-C dongles ≠ better than Mac’s built-in DAC. Low-sensitivity IEMs (e.g., N5005) need current—weak amps sound muddy.
: After digging into this, I stumbled upon Zhihu user "Mai Wenxue’s" article. Conclusion? It’s all audiophile voodoo—like traditional Chinese medicine. Believe it or not. High-impedance cans might need amplification, but N5005’s 18 ohms (lower than QC35) likely don’t.
: Is the tax based on the original price or the final checkout price? I didn’t see any tax at payment.

: After 8hrs burn-in: Jazz/Chinese folk highs shine. Classical (Verdi) lacks mid-bass. Anime tracks sound messy. Tested via 3.5mm.
: Caved and bought. Unboxing = premium. Sound? Better than AirPods Pro, worse than Grado over-ears. Needs burn-in? Amp vs. laptop—minimal difference.
: Decent resolution but thin mids/weak bass. Soundstage meh. Filters might help. "Flagship" = just looks?
回复 @AppleId_Ue67RVGl : I changed the eartips and the spatial sense improved. It seems this earphone can't be inserted too deep into the ear—at 11.5mm depth, the soundstage becomes completely inaudible. Switching to 9.7mm eartips feels like getting a whole new pair of earphones.

回复 @匿名用户 : "Driveability" = detail retrieval (not volume). Think soundstage, instrument separation, decay. It’s experiential—listen more. True "driveability" means maximizing a headphone’s potential.
:
Depends on the reference headphones. At its original $1K price, competing with $700–1K headphones, it’s hard to drive (lacks detail). But compared to AirPods, it’s a huge upgrade.
