F1 Officially Confirms V8 Engine Return Plan
According to the latest news, Formula 1 is planning to reintroduce V8 engines. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem made it clear at the Miami Grand Prix that a return to the V8 era is a done deal. "To put it bluntly, it's just a matter of time."
| Feature | Current V6 Hybrid | Future V8 Power Unit |
| Core Architecture | 1.6L V6 Turbocharged | V8 Engine |
| Complexity | Highly complex (heavy electronics) | Less complex power unit |
| Sound Performance | Often criticized for "lack of roar" | Restores classic high-revving champion sound |
| Electrification | Deep reliance on electrification | Minimal electrification (lightweight) |
The FIA plans to enforce this standard by 2031, but if manufacturers reach a consensus, the return could be moved up to 2030. The president stated: "Everyone is looking forward to it; this is basically a done deal."
This technical shift aims to save the spectacle of the races. More details will be released soon by the officials, with the goal of improving the race pace that has been criticized as "dull" under the 2026 season regulations by eliminating bulky battery packs.

: Are you kidding me? Audi, Ford, and GM are all here for the current hybrid new regulations. How many of them would agree to research V8 again? 开什么玩笑,奥迪福特通用不都是冲着现在的混动新规来的,有几家能同意重新研究v8
