From "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (1984) to "The Boy and the Heron" (2023), Joe Hisaishi has been composing music for Hayao Miyazaki's films. He has worked on music for over 80 films, spanning Japan and overseas, and has won numerous awards for his work, including several Japan Academy Prize Excellence Awards in the Music category and the Winsor McCay Award at the 51st Annie Awards in 2024. Since April 2024, he has served as Composer-in-Residence for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the UK, and will become Music Director of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra starting April 2025.
