B&H Product Description: The Hasselblad X2D II 100C is the next-generation flagship mirrorless camera, further enhancing speed, stability, and color performance on an already excellent platform, making medium format cameras more versatile in both everyday and special shooting scenarios. The upgraded autofocus system, more powerful in-body stabilization, and improved color flexibility benefit both experienced medium format photographers and those upgrading to larger sensor formats. These sensor-based upgrades, combined with an intuitive user interface, convenient wireless control, and refined physical details, further enhance the camera's user experience.

The X2D II 100C is built around a proven sensor, featuring the familiar 43.8 x 32.9 mm 100MP BSI CMOS sensor that delivers impressive resolution and 16-bit color. Compared to the previous generation, this sensor and processing capabilities have been enhanced, with dynamic range increased to 15.3 stops, and native sensitivity expanded from ISO 50 to ISO 25600, revealing more details in extreme shadow and highlight conditions. Additionally, the X2D II supports continuous shooting at 3 fps, making it easy to capture moving subjects.

In line with Hasselblad's dedication to color science, the X2D II is the first medium format camera equipped with true end-to-end HDR capture. High dynamic range images can be captured and processed in-camera as HDR HEIF or Ultra HDR JPEG files, with results immediately viewable on the camera's rear OLED display or edited through Phocus Mobile 2.

• HCNS HDR (Hasselblad Natural Color Solution) further enables HDR capture by combining high dynamic range capture with Hasselblad's signature color analysis for more detailed subtleties, especially in highlight areas, without sacrificing contrast.

Leaf Shutter Lenses and Electronic Shutter

 

One of the main advantages of the X system is the complementary XCD lenses, designed to work seamlessly with the system. The optical systems support the high-resolution 100MP sensor and feature leaf shutters that provide flash synchronization at all shutter speeds up to 1/4000 second, depending on the lens type.

Additionally, the mirrorless design of the X system also makes it adaptable to lenses from other systems, including Hasselblad's own X-Pan and H series lenses. These lenses can be used with optional adapters and take advantage of the camera body's electronic shutter function, which operates at speeds up to 1/6000 second.

Enhanced Focusing Capabilities

 

As a key system upgrade, autofocus has been improved in both speed and precision, with a new AF-C mode making it easier to photograph moving subjects. The phase detection autofocus (PDAF) system now uses 425 points on the sensor for improved precision, and the body's new LiDAR sensor provides faster focusing speeds in various lighting conditions. Additionally, a new AF illumination lamp enhances low-light focusing performance.

Taking advantage of the higher density of focus points, the camera also adds new focus point modes: expanded point focus, custom point focus, and wide-area mode. These modes enhance the existing point focus mode, offering better control and precision when focusing on objects of different sizes.

The X2D II is the first Hasselblad camera to feature AF-C continuous autofocus, allowing for continuous autofocus that's particularly suitable for capturing moving subjects. Beyond continuous focusing, this mode employs deep learning algorithms to achieve exceptional precision, reliably detecting and tracking subjects such as people, vehicles, cats, and dogs during shooting.

5-Axis, 10-Stop Image Stabilization

The five-axis in-body stabilization system compensates for up to 10 stops of camera shake, greatly enhancing the ultra-high resolution of 100 megapixels. This powerful stabilization system is eight times more effective than the previous generation when photographing distant subjects and supports handheld long exposures of several seconds. The 10-stop stabilization is measured at the center of the frame, equivalent to 8 stops at the edges. The stabilization system depends on the lens used and shooting distance, and is also compensated by the electronic compass function in Phocus Mobile 2, ensuring consistent performance worldwide.

Body Design and Controls

 

X series cameras have always been known for their excellent ergonomics and stylish design, maintaining comfortable handling even during all-day shooting. The X2D II features several significant improvements to the body design:

• The refined appearance features a new graphite gray matte finish with black lettering and a redesigned grip cover for a more comfortable experience during extended shooting sessions. The internal structure has also been optimized, reducing the overall weight by 7.5% compared to the previous generation; the X2D II 100C weighs 1.85 pounds, while the X2D 100C weighs 1.97 pounds.
• The 3.6-inch 2.3-million-dot OLED supports precise monitoring of HDR images through the P3 color gamut, and the display features a peak brightness of 1400 nits for high visibility in bright conditions.

• The OLED touchscreen also features an improved bi-directional tilt design that can tilt up 90° and down 43°, and can be pulled further away from the body to avoid being blocked by the viewfinder.
