From Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) to The Boy and the Heron (2023), Joe Hisaishi has been composing music for Hayao Miyazaki's films. He has created music for over 80 films, both in Japan and internationally, and has received numerous awards for his work, including several Japan Academy Film Prize awards for Outstanding Achievement in Music, as well as the Winsor McCay Award at the 51st Annie Awards in 2024. Since April 2024, he has served as Composer-in-Residence with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and will take on the role of Music Director of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra starting in April 2025.
