Apple iPhone Duo WeChat Compatibility Blocked, Dual-Device Login Not Yet Supported
Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has just lifted the embargo on its first wave of media reviews. While the hardware specs reach flagship-level standards, there are still obvious shortcomings in software optimization for the core needs of domestic users.
Core controversy: WeChat optimization and missing dual login
Hands-on testing shows that the iPhone Duo currently identifies WeChat as a phone version app. This means foldable phone users cannot enjoy the following features for now:
▫️ No dual-device login: You cannot stay logged in on your main iPhone while also being online on the Duo at the same time.
▫️ No tablet layout: The 7.6-inch inner screen only displays a stretched version of the interface, with no support for split-screen reading or multi-column layouts.
Apple customer service says the device runs a customized version of iOS 27, and the optimization progress mainly depends on developers' future plans.

Of course, this is not necessarily entirely Apple's problem. Whether WeChat optimizes for tablet mode and opens up the corresponding login logic will also depend on Tencent's future updates. If you are buying the iPhone Duo for a large-screen content experience, FaceTime, light productivity, and camera features, it is still appealing. But if what you are most looking forward to is WeChat tablet mode, dual instances, and multi-account efficiency, then at this stage you may want to wait and see.
