Editor's Pick: As a player who has been gaming since the original Switch launch, I'm actually most excited not about the improved graphics, but about being able to legitimately revisit classic games and try new releases. Switch 2 offers full backward compatibility with all original Switch games, so whether you're playing old games on the new console or you're a veteran trying new titles, you can't go wrong. With the excitement around the new console launch, I want to share some games that I believe are most worth trying on the Switch platform. Whether you're a newcomer or a dedicated Nintendo fan, these titles are perfect for beginning your Switch 2 journey~

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

For the first time in the Zelda series, Princess Zelda is the main protagonist. The gameplay focuses on puzzle-solving and a new magic system, with a healing and cute aesthetic. Graphics are noticeably improved on Switch 2, and puzzle innovations enhance the experience, making it perfect for players who enjoy a slower pace and exploration. Combat can be somewhat slow and occasionally repetitive, but the overall atmosphere is excellent.

Super Mario Odyssey

A masterpiece of 3D Mario games, featuring exceptional level design and controls. The Switch 2 offers improved smoothness and frame rates, making it still the best entry point for new players and a great revisit for veterans. Some content may be slightly challenging for platform game beginners, but the overall difficulty curve is approachable.

Mario Kart World

The series' first title supporting free open-world exploration with new gameplay mechanics. Significantly enhanced battle experience and visual performance, perfect for gatherings with friends and family entertainment. Highly recommended if you enjoy PVP/party games. The only drawback is the somewhat random character unlock mechanism in certain modes.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Features an open world, freedom to create, and richer puzzle elements. With Switch 2's performance, frame rates and visual presentation are substantially improved, creating a highly enjoyable exploration experience. Compared to "Breath of the Wild," it may feel slightly less fresh, but it remains a masterpiece with top ratings.

Donkey Kong Bananza

A Switch 2 exclusive with extensive scene destruction and collection elements. Great balance of action and exploration, suitable for players who enjoy level completion and the patience to find hidden elements. The storyline is relatively simple with a faster overall pace.

Pokemon Legends Z-A

This new Pokemon release blends open-world gameplay with traditional turn-based combat. Features increased map freedom, with battle and collection mechanics that appeal to both veteran Pokemon players and newcomers. Graphics are improved on Switch 2, and pre-orders are now available, though official release isn't until October. Information is limited, so it might be wise to wait for more player reviews.
