Switch 2 May Increase Price Due to Rising Memory Costs
According to a Bloomberg report on February 18, 2026, due to the recent continuous price increases in the global memory market, Nintendo is currently considering raising the launch price of the Switch 2 console.

The current investment in AI technology by global tech giants has directly impacted gaming hardware supply chains. Due to significant fluctuations in RAM module prices over the past few months, hardware pricing roadmaps of major manufacturers have been disrupted to varying degrees.
Valve's previously released 256GB LCD version of the Steam Deck was priced at $399. In comparison, the 512GB OLED version is priced at $549, and the 1TB version at $649.
The global memory crisis stems from the continuously rising demand for memory chips from artificial intelligence and data center companies, raising concerns that this will lead to price increases for consumer electronics. This "memory catastrophe" has already affected the release of Valve's Steam Machine, delaying the announcement of the device's launch date and price, although the product is still expected to be released in "the first half of the year."
It remains unclear when the Steam Deck will be restocked and how long it will remain available after restocking. Valve also sells refurbished Steam Decks, priced between $279 and $519, but these versions are currently sold out as well.
Besides Valve, the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X gaming console has already seen a price increase in the Japanese market, rising from 139,800 yen to 169,800 yen, a 21.5% increase, while other markets have not yet adjusted their prices.
