[Expired]Black Myth: Zhong Kui Releases New Year's Greeting Gameplay Short
Quite unexpectedly, Game Science has released the first in-engine video of "Black Myth: Zhong Kui," which is also their second trailer. Game Science stated that this video was specially recorded for the Year of the Horse Spring Festival and is unrelated to the actual game plot, so viewers shouldn't take it too seriously. Producer Feng Ji jokingly posted: "No gameplay, no combat, no mechanics, no Zhong Kui, because... we simply haven't made it yet!"
The video indeed doesn't showcase specific gameplay mechanics, but throughout the cooking process in the kitchen, it's clear that the overall technical prowess of "Black Myth: Zhong Kui" has significantly improved compared to "Black Myth: Wukong." Given that it's confirmed to be in-engine real-time rendering, the environmentally affected lighting effects, character movements and expressions, the different presentations of various knives and cutting forces, and the dynamic effects of the soup pot's water surface and fire steam are all remarkably impressive. At the end of the video, Game Science wishes everyone "good eating and sound sleeping," presumably suggesting we should eat well and sleep well rather than rushing to play the game? (Not really). Be sure to watch until the very end of the official clip, where there's an abrupt change in style, leaving viewers with a cliffhanger.
Starting from 2022, the New Year's short films for the Years of the Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, and Snake have basically all been playful videos. If you want to see actual gameplay trailers or story cinematics, you'll likely have to wait until August 20th, when Game Science typically reports on their development progress.
