: Yes, the mechanical series at age 9 is on a different level of difficulty compared to the regular age 9 sets. My 5-year-old can independently build the age 10 city series, but not the mechanical ones.

: Seems like all the cars are for ages 9+, but if a 5-year-old has built similar ones before and you guide them a bit, it should be doable. Some steps might be tricky if they're doing it completely independently.
