: It's probably because the pattern is similar to a tortoise's shell. I remember cats with this kind of mottled coloring are also called "tortoiseshell cats." Basically, anything with this pattern is called tortoiseshell. 因为跟玳瑁龟一个花色纹路吧，这种花色的花不溜秋的猫也叫玳瑁猫我记得，就是这么个色的就叫玳瑁了
