Toyota Engine Recall Expansion Affects 2024 Tundra, Lexus LX and GX

Toyota doesn't cheat the "poor"

Toyota recently (June 2026) issued a new voluntary recall for its 3.4L V6 twin-turbocharged engine, affecting approximately 44,000 non-hybrid 2024 Tundra vehicles nationwide. This engine issue has persisted for two years, with two previous large-scale recalls.

This engine is basically only used in Toyota's top-tier models, such as the flagship SUV LX (easily priced over $100k🔪) and the recently heavily marked-up GX series. Truly a friend to the budget-conscious, targeting the wealthy.

Recall Timeline and Affected Models
May 2024: 102,000 vehicles (2022-2023 Tundra, Lexus LX)
November 2025: 127,000 vehicles (adding Lexus GX)
June 2026: 44,000 vehicles (2024 non-hybrid Tundra)

Failure Cause: The official notice states that machining debris may remain inside the engine. Even though Toyota has enhanced production controls, the remaining debris is still enough to damage No. 1 main bearing, leading to catastrophic engine failure. Toyota has now completed repairs on 77,000 affected vehicles.

Owner Self-Check Guide
1. Prepare your vehicle's 17-digit VIN (usually found at the lower left corner of the windshield or on the door pillar)
2. Visit the Toyota website or NHTSA recall lookup page to enter the number.
3. Toyota will contact affected customers in phases to offer a corresponding remedy plan.
